![]() #3010 - Amazing Grace I photographed this picture on a chapel retreat to Switzerland last weekend. I never knew that I could learn so much from a picture about the grace of God. What a wonderful picture of the grace that flows from the throne room of God. Grace here is represented by the rushing waterfall. The continuous flow over the rocks, soil, roots of trees, the feet of people who walk in it, the faces cleansed by it, the refreshing taste that rejuvenates a man's soul on a long, hot hike among the Swiss Alps. The beauty that permeates from this waterfall, the life that continues to go on living from the existence of it. Amazing Grace that give life to the things that touch it. A waterfall flows over rocks, roots, debris, or whatever is in its way. Sometimes this is a fast running stream and sometimes the flow is slow. It may even overflow at times and cover more than the stream bed that contains it. Whatever the case the water is constantly flowing. As it flows over the rocks in its path it eventually wears and smooths the rocks rocky exterior down. It can wash away the dirt and grime that lie in the cracks of the rocks. It redefines what the rocks look like over time. And it also can change its course depending on how the rock reacts to the constant attention that it is given by the flowing water. The grace of God is similar to this waterfall. It continuously flows in and over our lives. Sometimes it flows quite heavily, and other times it seems like it isn't enough. It is always working in our lives to smooth out the rough edges of our exterior and clean out the dirt, grim and filth of this world that lies within our souls. Over time it can change who we are if we allow the hand of God to work in our lives. It may not look like a lot at first, but the more we allow God to work and change us into who he wants us to be, we too can look like a beautiful waterfall. There may be times in our lives that it seems that the grace is not flowing as much as it used to, but praise be the Lord that it is flowing at all. We should still be able to praise God for that grace that flows no matter how much it seems is flowing in our lives. Yes, at times it may seem that that wonderful Amazing Grace is flowing so much that it is overflowing into the lives of the other people around us and permeating the ground and causing life to spring up around us. Psalm 1 says we are like trees planted by streams of water. Trees need water too. Let the grace of God overflow in your life and touch the others around you. Don't ever stop letting the grace of God flow through and over your life. Let that Amazing Grace overflow and permeate the world around you. Praise be to God for that Amazing Grace! |
