#1003 - The Shoulder of the Carpenter's Son

This photo was taken after a rainstorm. It intrigued me to see that a small, fragile leaf can endure a rainstorm and still stand tall. That it didn't fall away or bend under the pressure of the wind and rain. This little leaf not only withstood the storm but supported the rain and caused water drops to form on the leaf’s surface. Some of the water drops are bigger than others. And if you look closely at the leaf you will see a reflection of an individual viewing the leaf.

The leaf represents who Christ is in our lives. He is the Protector that shelters us when the storms of this life rain down tests and trials into our lives. This leaf represents the shoulder of Christ that is readily available for us to lean on. The water drops are our tears that are shed on Christ’s shoulder through both the good and bad times. They represent our tears of joy, pain, sadness and grief. They are all represented here.

The best part is that after Christ has wiped the tears from our eyes with his comforting hands and comforted us through our situation, we can stand back and see our reflection in our tears. It is the reflection of who we are in Christ. We are the reflection that Christ wants us to see inside ourselves when we learn to lean on and rely upon the shoulder of Christ in our everyday lives.
